1.  Describe some of the different treatment methods used in prison.  How can correctional treatment be more effective? Should self-help programs be used in conjunction with treatment? Why or why not?

2. What educational and vocational possibilities are available to inmates in prison and how valuable is educational and vocational programming/training for offenders?

3.  Compose a letter to an employer explaining why you should be hired, even though you have just completed a 5 year prison sentence for armed burglary. Specify the type of company you are applying for. Include in your answer some of the social barriers that offenders face when they return to the community.

4.  What if you were a parole officer and had to decide whether or not to file complaints against your parolees? What violations and crimes would you definitely file complaints for and what would you most likely overlook?  Explain your rationale. 

5.  What if you were a Disciplinary Hearing Officer in a unit with mentally ill inmates and/or elderly inmates? How would you sanction offenders for infractions without punishing them because of their illnesses?
